Vestas bags 107 MW of turbines orders in France, Italy

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) on Thursday announced orders to deliver hardware for 107 MW of wind farms in France and Italy.

Canadian renewable power producer Boralex Inc (TSE:BLX) has placed a contract that calls for Vestas to supply and install 17 of its V126-3.45 MW machines for the 65-MW Les Moulins du Lohan wind project in the department of Morbihan. The turbines will be delivered by the second quarter of 2020 and will be operated in a 3.8 MW power optimised mode.

The wind park is due to be brought online in the first quarter of 2023. Vestas will oversee its operations under a 20-year active output management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

In Italy, Vestas turbines will be used for the repowering of the Monreale Partinico wind park in Sicily. The Danish manufacturer will supply and install 10 V136-4.2 MW turbines to replace the existing 19 V52-850 kW machines at the plant and lift its capacity to 42 MW.

The deal was awarded by ERG Wind Energy Srl, a unit of Italian energy company ERG SpA (BIT:ERG) and also includes a multi-year AOM5000 service agreement. Its project was secured in a domestic renewable energy tender.

Vestas expects to deliver the equipment for ERG’s project in the third quarter of next year and power up the wind farm in the last quarter of 2022.
