Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) will cover its commitment under a recently signed PPA with home improvement retailer Leroy Merlin with power from a 23.6-MW wind project due to be commissioned in mid-2023, it said on Tuesday.
The French renewable power plants operator has signed a 23-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Leroy Merlin, under which its client will receive 60 GWh of electricity per year. The contract is tied to the entire output of a wind farm being installed in France’s Bourgogne Franche-Comte region. The plant is scheduled to go online by the end of this year’s first half.

"This Corporate PPA wind power, a first in France, is part of the strategic partnership concluded in 2021 with Adeo, parent company of Leroy Merlin,” said Sebastien Clerc, Voltalia’s CEO.
Voltalia and Leroy Merlin already have in place a PPA for a 30-MW solar project in Centre-Val de Loire region.
Last week, Leroy Merlin also agreed to procure 45 GWh on average per year from two solar park under construction by France’s Photosol SA in the municipalities of Bellac and Mainzac. The plants, totalling 38 MWp, are expected to be switched on in 2024.
