Over the past couple of days, Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) reported receiving a number of orders in Europe for a combined capacity of 420 MW.
In Northern Europe, the company has secured turbine supply contracts in Finland, Estonia and Denmark.
Finnish renewable energy producer Ilmatar Energy Oy has made a 135-MW order in relation to four projects in its home country. Vestas will supply, install and commission machines of the V162-6.2 MW and V150-4.2 MW models and will service them for periods of between 30 and 35 yeas. It expects to begin deliveries and installation in the second quarter of next year, while commissioning is planned for the following quarter.
In Estonia, Utilitas has purchased nine V150-4.2 MW turbines for a total of 39 MW, to be installed as part of the Saarde wind project in Parnu County. Vestas will deliver the machines in the second quarter of 2023 and will commission the wind park in the second half of the year. The company has been contracted to service the turbines for a period of 30 years.
Priit Koit, Utilitas Group CEO, commented that no new wind turbines have been installed in Estonia for the past eight years and that the company is looking to reduce the use of imported natural gas.
In Denmark, Vestas will repower an existing wind farm on behalf of long-term client Eurowind Energy A/S. More specifically, it will supply, erect and commission 11 units of its V126-3.45 MW turbines as part of the 40-MW Norre Okse So project, and will service them for 20 years. Vestas will deliver the turbines in the second quarter of 2023 and commission the entire facility in the final quarter of that year.
The Danish wind turbine supplier also got two orders in Italy for a combined 67 MW.
PLT Engineering Srl has purchased seven V136-4.2 MW and two V117-4.2 MW units totalling 39 MW for the Borgia merchant wind project in the region of Calabria. Vestas will supply and commission the turbines by the first half of 2023 and will provide maintenance services for 20 years.
On the other hand, the IVPC Group has ordered turbines with a total capacity of 27 MW for the 12-MW Aquilonia and 15-MW Forenza projects in the regions of Campania and Basilicata, respectively. By the first quarter of next year, Vestas will deliver and commission two V100-2.0 MW and two V126-3.45 MW units for Aquilonia along with four V126-3.45 MW machines for Forenza. This order includes a 10-year Active Output Management (AOM 4000) service deal.
Meanwhile, in Scotland, Red Rock Power Ltd has placed a 67-MW order for the Benbrack wind project in Dumfries and Galloway. For this client, Vestas will supply, install and commission 13 units of the V136-4.5 MW model plus two V117-4.2 MW turbines and service them under a long-term AOM 5000 contract. Deliveries and installation are expected to start in early 2024, while commissioning is planned to take place by the middle of the same year.
As previously reported, Vestas also picked up a 73-MW order in Poland.
