Harmony Energy picks Envision to add 83 MW of batteries in UK

Shanghai-based green tech company Envision Energy has secured contracts to supply, install and maintain two-hour duration battery energy storage systems (BESS) for around 83 MW of projects in the UK.

The contracts were placed by UK-based renewables firm Harmony Energy, the latter said in a filing on Monday without disclosing financial details.

Specifically, Envision will be in charge of installing the 33-MW/66-MWh Wormald Green and 49.9-MW/99.8-MWh Hawthorn Pit projects facilities. The job will be undertaken by the Chinese firm’s subsidiaries Envision Energy International Trading Ltd and Envision Energy International UK Ltd. The units were picked as the BESS supplier in a tender held late last year.

A balance of plant contractor for the two projects has already been selected, Harmony Energy said.

Including Wormald Green and Hawthorn Pit, Harmony Energy has seven battery storage projects under construction. With a combined capacity of 300 MW/600 MWh, they are due to become operational between the first quarter of 2023 and the second quarter of 2024.
