Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has been picked to deliver hardware for 363 MW of wind projects across several European countries under orders unveiled in the last week of the past year.
The largest one of the five deals was awarded by Vestas’ long-term customer SR Energy AB and concerns a 93-MW project in Sweden. The contract calls for the supply, installation, and commissioning of 15 units of the V162-6.2 MW machines, which will be powering a wind farm in Smedjebackens municipality.
The Algkullen plant’s turbines are due to be delivered in the second quarter of 2024 and will go online in the closing quarter of the same year. Their operations will be overseen by Vestas under a 35-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
Moving south to Germany, nine V150-6.0 MW turbines of the EnVentus platform, some of which are to be delivered in a 5.6-MW operating mode, will create a 50-MW wind farm. The order was placed by an unnamed party and is tied to the supply, installation, and commissioning of the machines and also includes a 20-year AOM 5000 service contract.
The Danish manufacturer will start deliveries in the third quarter of 2024 and switch on the machines in the fourth quarter of 2024.
On top of two previous December orders in Italy, Vestas has bagged two additional contracts for 160 MW of turbines in the country where it has already 4.9 GW installed so far. For an 84-MW project in the Campania region, it will supply and install 20 of the V150-4.2 MW machines, expecting their deliveries and commissioning in the second half of 2023. The client is Campo Eolico Ariano (CEA), a subsidiary of the WEB Group.
Meanwhile, Italian energy company ERG SpA (BIT:ERG) has ordered 13 V150-4.2 MW and five V136-4.2 MW machines for the 76-MW Castelvetrano Salemi wind park in Sicilia. Vestas will deliver the hardware in the first quarter of 2024 and commission the plant in the following trimester.
Both Italian deals include AOM 5000 service agreements, the first one for 25 years.
In its final order disclosures for 2022, Vestas said it has also received a deal from DTEK Renewable International and Moldova Eolian to equip the 60-MW Ruginoasa wind project in Romania. Its scope of work will be to supply 10 pieces of its V162-6.2 MW turbines, install and commission them and handle their operations for 20 years.
Turbine deliveries are planned to begin in the third quarter of 2023, with commissioning planned to take place in 2023’s fourth quarter.
