Aquila Clean Energy EMEA, part of German investment firm Aquila Capital, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to deliver 1.8 TWh of electricity from its wind farm in Lithuania.
The off-taker is Estonia-based energy company Eesti Energia, which operates in the Baltic region. The PPA is a long-term one and covers the supply of electricity from an unspecified wind farm that Aquila Clean Energy is working on in Lithuania, the German investor said.
This is the first PPA for Aquila Clean Energy in Lithuania.
“The country is very interesting for the operation of wind power plants due to its favourable geographic conditions. Against this background, we are pleased to have found a very experienced and reliable contractual partner in Eesti Energia, which will purchase electricity on a long-term basis,” commented Joakim Johnsen, Head of Markets & Operations at Aquila Clean Energy.
Added Margus Vals, Member of the Management Board of Eesti Energia:
“This is another landmark deal which helps our customers all over the Baltics to implement the green energy transition faster and fix electricity costs at a very good price point. Electricity prices secured for such a long time are unique in today’s uncertain world.”
