Spanish electrical equipment manufacturer Gamesa Electric said that its solar and storage inverter business had a record year, seeing a 182% increase in orders measured in megawatts in 2022 compared to the capacity contracted the year earlier.
Its most sought-after product was the Gamesa Electric Proteus, a central inverter for solar and storage applications with up to 4700 kW of power and high levels of efficiency. The company said that 98% of the contracts it signed in 2022 involved the Proteus solution, a brand of products that was launched last year.
"We have seen a strong demand for our product in markets such as the USA and Spain, which have favourable regulation and certainly value the technological advantages of the product and its impact on reducing LCOE," Enrique de la Cruz, Gamesa Electric's Solar & Storage Sales Director, said in a prepared statement.
The company also highlighted its entry into new markets, namely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark and Switzerland, and the beginning of a strategic cooperation with German technology group Siemens AG (ETR:SIE).
Proteus products went to the 193-MW Crooked Lake project in the US, the 28.5-MW Zvizdan solar project in Bosnia, the 113-MW Porton del Sol in Colombia and the 88-MW Mica Creek in Australia, the company said.
Gamesa Electric is part of wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE).
