Spain's PVH plans to build world's largest solar tracker factory

Spanish solar tracking solutions manufacturer PV Hardware (PVH) has acquired over six hectares of land in Valencia, Spain, to follow its growth plans and build what is says will be the world’s largest solar tracker factory.

The 65,000-square-metre (699,654 sq ft) facility will enable PVH to increase its global manufacturing and supply capacity to 25 GW per year, the company said.

At present, PVH runs operations at seven different locations at a Valencian industrial park and has a production facility in Saudi Arabia. The company plans to build a tube factory in Valencia with an investment of more than EUR 20 million (USD 21.4m) in the coming months.

“By manufacturing its own products PVH controls the entire supply chain and offers its customers shorter delivery times and the ability to mitigate price variations caused by market fluctuations,” according to the announcement.

“At the moment we are the third largest supplier of solar trackers in the world, and our goal is to become the world’s number one. We have the conditions and experience to do so, and with this expansion we will reach the necessary capacity to achieve our goal” said COO Emilio Garcia.

PVH, part of Spanish integrated solar player Gransolar Group, also plans to open its first factory in the US in the coming months.
