Germany’s Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) this week unveiled orders exceeding 245 MW to supply its turbines for a couple of projects in Canada and Germany.
The names of Nordex’s customers and financial details for both deals were kept under wraps.
For the Canadian project, the German manufacturer will deliver 36 units of its N155/5.X turbines to power an over 200-MW wind farm in the province of Saskatchewan. The machines will be supplied in a cold climate version in order to fit the extremely low temperatures at the location.
The wind farm is expected to start generating electricity in 2024.
The current week started with a 45-MW contract for Nordex in its home country that will see it supply and install 10 of the N149/4.5 machines for a wind farm in North-Rhine Westphalia state. The deal, awarded by an unnamed utility company, also includes a 20-year premium service agreement for the hardware’s maintenance.
The turbines will be equipped with a shadow flicker module and a bat module and will run at a reduced sound level at night.
Nordex expects the first machines to go online in the autumn. Once fully commissioned, the wind farm will produce around 96,000 MWh, or enough to cover the electricity consumption of more than 38,000 homes per year.
