German independent power producer clearvise AG (ETR:ABO) on Thursday announced plans to acquire a 18.6-MW wind farm project in its home country from local renewables developer ABO Wind AG (ETR:AB9).
The partners have signed a cooperating agreement that gives clearvise the option to buy the Weilrod 2 scheme after the project receives its construction permit.
Weilrod 2 is planned to be built in close proximity to the 16.8-MW Weilrod 1 wind farm in the municipality of Weilrod, Hesse, which has been generating electricity since 2014 with seven Nordex N117 turbines. The plant became part of clearvise’s portfolio in 2015.
The Weilrod site is to be expanded by three additional machines that will form Weilrod 2. The plant will be installed by ABO Wind and is scheduled to go online in 2025. Once up and running, ABO Wind will take care of its operational management.
At present, clearvise has more than 300 MW of renewable energy assets in its operational portfolio. At the end of last year, the company raised EUR 25 million (USD 26.8m) gross through a capital increase to back its goal of expanding its fleet to 1 GW by 2025.
