Scatec says all company-owned solar plants in Ukraine intact

Norwegian renewable power producer Scatec ASA (OSL:SCATC) said on Monday that its solar parks in Ukraine are still intact and can be operated remotely, though they are not currently feeding power into the grid.

In a statement, the company expressed its deep concern over the situation in Ukraine, which was invaded by Russian armed forces last Wednesday. Scatec noted it has mobilised an emergency response organisation to assist its local employees “in any way possible, including transportation and accommodation and other immediate support.”

“We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of Scatec’s employees and this remains our top priority in the days and weeks to come,” said CEO Raymond Carlsen.

The reason why Scatec’s solar power plants in Ukraine do not presently deliver electricity is that the local grid operator has issued curtailment instructions. The company noted it is ready to resume power deliveries when requested by the Ukrainian authorities.

At present, Scatec has 66 employees in Ukraine operating five solar parks totalling 336 MW that are located in the central and southern parts of the country. Last year, the company’s Ukrainian plants accounted for 6% of its total power production revenues, it said.
