German wind and solar park operator Encavis AG (ETR:CAP) on Wednesday said it has bought an 11.2-MW wind farm at home that is being repowered from local renewables developer and operator Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKT).
The Bergheim site will be equipped with two Vestas V 150-5.6 wind turbines which are set to be commissioned at the end of 2023. After the repowering, the site will have an annual electricity generation of about 28.1 GWh in its first full year of operation.
The wind park is located in North Rhine-Westphalia and benefits from a 20-year state-guaranteed feed-in tariff (FIT) under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). Encavis' chief operating officer Mario Schirru also sees attractive earnings potential through power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The value of the acquisition was not disclosed.
Bergheim marks the eighth wind farm project acquired by Encavis from Energiekontor. The two companies have been partnering since 2015.
Chief executive Peter Szabo commented that Energiekontor will continue to exploit the growing repowering potential in Germany in the future and has already secured further attractive repowering projects.
