Telenor Infra AS, a telecom infrastructure provider in Norway, will be getting 330 GWh of power annually from a 260-MW wind farm in Sweden under a contract with renewables operator Hydro Energi AS.
Telenor will buy electricity from the Stor-Skälsjön wind park, currently under construction in the Sundsvall and Timrå municipalities, to cover its Norwegian demand. Supply under the 10-year corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) will start when the 42-turbine wind farm is operational. Commissioning is currently planned for the autumn of 2023.

In April, Hydro Energi’s renewables unit Hydro REIN and Swedish wind project developer Eolus Vind AB (STO:EOLU-B) announced a deal to sell a combined 75% stake in Stor-Skälsjön to MEAG. This will leave Hydro REIN with 25%, while Eolus is exiting the project.
Hydro Energy is in charge of the commercial handling and the delivery of power from the wind park to Telenor.
“This is the first transaction showing Hydro Rein and Hydro Energy’s ability to offer renewable power solutions to external customers. Hydro Rein aims at becoming the preferred supplier of renewable power for industrial clients, and Telenor is a great example of that,”commented Olivier Girardot, Head of Hydro Rein.
Hydro Energi is part of Norsk Hydro ASA (OSE:NHY).
