Malaysian energy infrastructure company Yinson Holdings Bhd (KLSE:YINSON) will collaborate with Chile-based renewables developer Verano Capital to progress an 800-MW-plus solar project pipeline in Latin America.
The two companies have agreed to work together on projects in Chile, Colombia and Peru. They said that the pipeline includes schemes totalling 330 MW that could obtain the required consents within six to 12 months.
The plan is to initiate construction on the first 100 MW of capacity within six months, subject to Yinson taking the final investment decision.
Verano has an existing renewables portfolio that exceeds 1 GW of capacity, including 23 sold projects in operation generating 284,900 MWh of electricity per year. The firm typically sources and provides the initial investment for project development. According to its CEO Dylan Rudney, the partnership with Yinson will enable quick growth in several different geographies.
On the other hand, Yinson has been diversifying its business into renewables since 2019. It owns the 140-MW Bhadla solar plants and the 190-MW, under-construction Nokh solar project in India.
