Slovenia's Petrol to commission 30 MW wind park in Croatia in April

LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 14 (SeeNews) – Slovenian energy group Petrol [LJE:PETG] said on Monday it plans to commission the 30 MW Ljubac wind farm it is building in Croatia in April 2021.

The Ljubac project is Petrol's first in the wind energy sector that will be developed without any financial support or incentives for producing electricity from renewable energy sources, the head of Petrol's renewable energy department, Suvad Bajric, said in a statement.

Petrol signed an agreement for the construction of Ljubac with Germany-headquartered Nordex Group at the end of 2019 and construction works began in the spring, the Slovenian company said.

The wind farm comprising nine turbines is located close to the city of Knin, in Croatia's southern province of Dalmatia. Once commissioned, it will produce some 96 GWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the needs of 20,000 households.

Bajric said that Petrol Group has some 200 MW of wind and solar energy projects under development, and once completed they will provide green electricity to 100,000 households.

Petrol's shares traded 0.31% lower at 325 euro ($395) by 15:37 CET on Monday on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.
