PGE gets permits to build 107 MW of PV plants in eastern Poland

PGE Energia Odnawialna, part of Polish utility PGE (WSE:PGE), said it has obtained building permits for three photovoltaic (PV) projects with a total capacity of 107 MW in Poland's eastern Lubelskie province.

The largest power plant, PV Srebrzyszcze, will have a capacity of 60 MW, and the other two, PV Wrzosow and PV Zoltance, of 32 MW and 15 MW, respectively. The facilities will be operational in 2024, producing some 116 GWh per year, which is expected to meet the energy needs of over 50,000 households, the renewable energy developer said in a press release on Thursday.

The three farms are the next large PV projects that the company will develop this year along with the 25-MW PV Augustynka, the 100-MW PV Jeziorko and the 50-MW facility in Kleszczow, CEO Marcin Karlikowski noted. In 2023, the PGE Group will have built or under construction solar installations of a total of 500 MW.

PGE Energia Odnawialna is currently the largest producer of green energy in Poland, the company noted. It has 20 wind farms, 29 hydropower plants, four pumped-storage power plants and 24 PV farms. The total installed capacity of all facilities is 2,433 MW.
