Qair Polska said on Tuesday it will start in spring the construction of three photovoltaic (PV) farms of a total 120 MW, planning to sell support-free energy under power purchase agreements (PPA).
The developer, part of French-based global renewable power producer Qair, will build its largest project, of 80 MW, in Golczewo, the West Pomeranian province, the company said in a press release.
A 30-MW PV array will be deployed in Rokietnica, the central Wielkopolskie province, on the premises of an experimental farm of the Poznan University of Life Sciences. To be built in cooperation with the university, it will also be used for educational purposes. The facility will have single-axis solar trackers, which is not so common in Poland, the company noted.
The third facility, of 10 MW, will be in Pakosc, the central Kujawsko-Pomorskie province.
This is the first investment portfolio of the company in Poland from which electricity will be sold in full under corporate PPAs, without the support of the auction mechanism, CEO Krzysztof Wojtysiak said. It will allow Qair Polska to adjust to the demand for green energy from large energy-intensive businesses.
The general contractor of the project will be Onde, the renewable business of Polish builder Erbud SA.
Qair Polska, which has been operating in the country since 2015, has a portfolio of 258 MW of fully operational wind and PV assets, 30 MW under construction and over 2.5 GW in the early stage of development.
