CIP joins Amberside Energy to develop 2-GW UK solar portfolio

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners P/S (CIP) has agreed to partner with Amberside Energy and provide, through its Flagship Funds, the capital needed to develop a 2-GW solar-plus-storage portfolio in the UK.

The new partnership calls for Amberside Energy to continue to lead project origination and development activities, while CIP contributes its expertise in procurement, structuring and financing renewables. According to Marc Scambler, co-founder and CEO of Amberside Energy, the first projects will be ready to enter the construction phase in the next two years.

“UK solar and battery storage have become increasingly competitive in recent years and are now some of the most cost-efficient technologies, contributing to enhancing grid flexibility, resilience and increasing the overall security of supply,” commented Radu Gruescu, Partner at CIP.

In late November, Black & Veatch announced that it will be providing technical advisory and support services for Amberside solar and battery projects in the UK.
