Austria has allocated 393.99 MWp of solar, 45.4 MW of wind and 5 MWel of biomass capacity in three tenders with a December 13 deadline.
The awarded solar capacity remained far below the targeted 700 MW. The successful bids in the competition ranged from EUR 0.0563 (USD 0.059) to EUR 0.0933 per kWh with the volume-weighted average in the round coming in at EUR 0.0737 per kWh.
A total of 131 proposals qualified to receive a market premium.
With only six successful bids, awards in the wind auction were less than a quarter of the targeted capacity of 190 MW. The winners will receive market premiums of between EUR 0.0817 and EUR 0.0822 per kWh. The volume-weighted average value stood at EUR 0.0820 per kWh.
The selected bids were submitted by EVN naturkraft Erzeugungsgesellschaft, WEB Windenergie AG, Windpark DW GmbH and ContourGlobal Windpark Sharndorf.
The call for biomass-fired power plants picked only one project with a capacity of 5 MWel while seeking 7.5 MWel. The proposal came from ENV Waerme GmbH and offered a price of EUR 0.1599 per kWh. The cap was set at EUR 0.1822 per kWh.
Overall, business units of Lower Austria-based EVN Group (VIE:EVN) were among the winners in all three tenders.
