Reuters Events: London to host offshore wind event as European targets rise and floating wind heads for commercialisation

LONDON, Nov 2-3, 2022 – The path to floating wind commercialization and pressure on the offshore wind industry to become the European energy leader, will be major topics discussed at Offshore and Floating Wind Europe 2022, Reuters Events announced today.

One of Europe's most crucial events for offshore and floating wind will take place in the UK's capital, the leading country for offshore wind, on November 2 and 3, bringing together more than 300 experts together to discuss an industry which is vital for European energy security.

Confirmed speakers include the CEO of Maple Power, Michael van der Heijden, the CDO's of RWE and Simply Blue Group Danielle Jarski and Karolina Pietrzak, the CFO of Ardesier Port Authority David Morant, and the VP of Floating Wind at Equinor, Sonja Chirico Indrebo.

Also appearing at the event will be the Heads of Floating Wind, Offshore Wind Supply Chain and Offshore Wind Infrastructure at BEIS, Leo Bertels, Allan Taylor and Barnaby Towle, and the Head of Marine Scotland Policy and Strategy from the Scottish Government, David Pratt.

“With major plans for floating wind expansion and new lease areas in the works all across Europe, it really is an exciting time for the industry” said Jessica Jones, Global Project Director for Offshore and Floating Wind Europe at Reuters Events. “The next few years will be crucial to unlocking offshore wind's full potential."

Offshore and Floating Wind Europe 2022 will see industry leaders share the latest updates on permitting and leases, current and future projects, pilot trials and port upgrades, and discussions on the role of floating and fixed-bottom wind in the push for renewable energies across Europe.

More than 50 executive speakers will be present at the event, in the most important line-up the industry has seen. The brochure for the two days of industry-leading sessions and networking opportunities is available for download now. Five key content pillars will be covered in the conference, focusing on:

1. Supply Chain Expansion

With an expected 116GW of offshore wind energy is to be installed between 2022 and 2026, find out how to build an extensive, reliable, and affordable supply chain critical to support project roll-out.

2. Technology and Innovation

With over 70 floating wind technologies, hydrogen energy storage solutions and offshore robust cabling innovations all entering the industry, hear from those developing, trialling, and finding a critical standard for these fresh technologies.

3. Transmission and Grid Integration

€8 billion in investment is needed in grid expansion by 2030 to unleash offshore wind potential, engage in discussions with those at the forefront of these plans through the power of hybrid projects, grid integration and energy islands.

4. Financing

The cost of producing offshore wind energy is on a steep decline, but commodity costs remain high and investment risk increasing, find out methods keep offshore wind profitable whilst pushing for European targets.

5. Policies and Environmental Protection

With a colossal queue of fixed and floating projects to go through permitting, hear from regulatory bodies on how policies are being changed to foresight this fast-evolving market whilst sustaining its moral focus on environmental protection.

Offshore and Floating Wind Europe 2022 will feature an industry-leading 40 percent utility and end-user attendance ratio and include world-class presentations, panels, interviews, and workshops.

Present at the in-person event will be some of the biggest names in the industry including bp, Iberdrola, Orsted, Clifford Chance, LM Wind Power, Semco Maritime, Bibby Marine Services and many more.

“This is the perfect opportunity for hundreds of senior-level executives from supply chain, development, finance, government and more, to network, learn and build partnerships which will shape European offshore wind over the next decade,” said Jessica. “Every current and future industry bottleneck and update will be delved in to".

Offshore and Floating Wind Europe 2022 will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Canary Wharf, London, on November 2-3. For more information, visit Offshore & Floating Wind Europe 2022 (reutersevents.com) or write to [email protected].
