Madhya Pradesh floating solar tender attracts 1 GW of bids - report

A 300-MW floating solar tender launched by India’s Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL) has attracted huge interest, with subscriptions reaching 1,000 MW, Mercom India reports.

RUMSL, a joint venture of the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam, is seeking contractors for the installation of floating solar arrays at the Omkareshwar reservoir in Madhya Pradesh. The latest tender, issued in July, is the second phase of a competitive selection for the construction of a larger grid-connected park of 600 MW in size.

According to the report, NTPC, SJVN, Tata Solar, Mahindra Susten, Eden Renewables, and NHPC were among the bidders in the 300-MW second-phase tender for three individual schemes of 100 MW each.

In May, Amp Energy, NHPCand SJVN were selected as winners in the auction’s first round. Each of them will take care of installing a 100-MW portion of the park. RUMSL will provide the evacuating infrastructure for the projects.

India had 57 GW of cumulative installed solar capacity at the end of June. Mercom's data shows that less than 200 MW comes from floating photovoltaic (PV) parks.
