Provaris, Total Eren to collaborate on compressed H2 transport to Asia, Europe

Australian firm Provaris Energy Ltd (ASX:PV1) on Thursday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with French renewables independent power producer (IPP) Total Eren to cooperate on the potential transportation of green hydrogen to Asian and European markets.

The companies will work together to identify and assess green hydrogen projects currently developed by Total Eren that can use Provaris’ GH2 Carriers for bulk transport of compressed hydrogen. Provaris expects the partnership to help it deliver the first fleet of GH2 Carriers.

“Our discussions with Total Eren over time have identified a strong alignment on the commercial and technical benefits of compression for the storage and transport of hydrogen, and we look forward to a closer relationship to facilitate and accelerate the delivery of the first fleet of GH2 Carriers,” said Provaris managing director and chief executive Martin Carolan.

The partners will also study opportunities for bulk compressed hydrogen storage, using design concepts developed by Provaris for a floating storage.

Provaris was previously called Global Energy Ventures Ltd. In August, the company’s Tiwi H2 project, a green hydrogen project on the Tiwi Islands, was awarded major project status by the Northern Territory (NT) government.
