Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) on Tuesday announced a 56-MW supply order in Ireland and one for 37 MW of capacity in Italy.
First, Statkraft Ireland has purchased nine V162-6.2 MW wind turbines with a tip height of 185 metres for its Cushaling wind project in counties Offaly and Kildare. Under the terms of the contract, Vestas will supply, install and commission the turbines, and then service the equipment for a period of 35 years. It expects to deliver and erect the units during the first quarter of 2024 and commission them the following quarter.
“We are delighted that the installation of the V162-6.2 MW turbine in Cushaling Wind Farm will be a first for the island of Ireland. These will be the largest turbines to be used in any wind project in the country and Cushaling will be the site of the first Vestas V162,” commented Kevin O’Donovan, Managing Director of Statkraft Ireland.
At the same time, Vestas has won an order to supply and install six V162-6.2 MW turbines for an unnamed customer with a project in Italy. This order includes a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service deal. The Danish company anticipates fulfilling it next year.
