Finnish renewable fuels producer Neste Oyj (HEL:NESTE) has selected its existing partner Technip Energies (EPA:TE) to undertake the expansion of its renewable products refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The French engineering and technology firm said on Thursday that it has won a “significant” contract that covers Engineering, Procurement services and Construction management (EPsCm) for the expansion project, which will raise Neste’s overall renewable product capacity by 1.3 million tonnes per year.
Technip Energies was also the one to deliver the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) work for the project in 2021. The company pointed out that it refers to a contract as “significant” when it represents between EUR 50 million (USD 51m) and EUR 250 million in revenue.
“This award relies on our long-term collaboration, illustrated by the successful delivery of two world-scale renewable products refineries in Rotterdam and Singapore and the ongoing expansion project of Neste’s renewable products refinery in Singapore,” commented Bhaskar Patel, SVP Sustainable Fuels, Chemicals and Circularity at Technip Energies.
The expanded facility will utilise Neste’s proprietary NEXBTL technology to convert renewable waste and residue raw materials like used cooking oil and animal fat waste into renewable fuels.
