India's ReNew installs 3-MW-plus wind turbines for hybrid project

Indian renewable power producer ReNew Energy Global Plc (NASDAQ:RNW) announced on Tuesday it has installed the country's first-ever 3x platform wind turbine generators as part of a hybrid project in Karnataka.

Specifically, the company has deployed turbines with a nameplate capacity of 3.3-3.465 MW and 128-140 metres in height as part of a round-the-clock renewable energy project in Gadag that combines wind, solar, and battery energy storage. ReNew noted that the new turbines are more powerful than the 2-MW to 3-MW units that have so far been installed in India.

Once completed, the hybrid plant will be able to generate enough clean energy to meet the demand of more than one million local households per year.

With the new installations, the Indian company will be able to reach 13.4 GW. Additionally, 1.5 GW of wind projects are planned to come online this fiscal year in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
