Poland's Enea reinforces grid for smooth flow of renewable energy

Polish utility Enea (WSE:ENA) said that its power distributor, Enea Operator, will build in the northern city of Poznan a substation along with the necessary infrastructure to ensure the smooth connection of renewable energy facilities to Poland's grid.

Completion is planned for the turn of 2023 and 2024, Enea said in a press release on Monday.

The project, estimated at some PLN 26 million (USD 6m/EUR 5.5m), will include the construction of the 110/15 kV Szczepankowo substation along with high-voltage 110 kV cable lines and connections to the grid. Co-financing of PLN 10.6 million will be provided by EU funds supporting the production and distribution of energy from renewable sources.

The purpose of building a station in this area is to enable the development of renewable energy in the district of ​​Poznan, where the number of such projects is growing dynamically, said Marek Rusakiewicz, acting CEO of Enea Operator.

Currently, more than 150,000 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of over 3.7 GW are connected to Enea Operator's network. Only in the first three quarters of 2022, Enea Operator hooked over 36,000 such units of a total of 670 MW.
