Canadian waste recovery solutions provider Anaergia Inc (TSE:ANRG) has signed a contract to supply its equipment for a renewable liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant project in Italy, it said.
The customer is Societa’ Agricola Agriferr ss di Zagni Matteo & C (Agriferr), an Italian agricultural industry company based in a town in the province of Cremona.
Anaergia said that it will build Agriferr’s new plant using its proprietary systems, including its first-ever renewable natural gas liquefaction system. The company will also install its Triton digester, a biogas upgrading system and an on-site fuelling station for end-users.
Anaergia will build the plant and operate it for four years. The facility’s future output is estimated at around 2,000 tonnes of LNG per year.
Operations are expected to start by the end of 2022.
“Italy is a European leader in the adoption of renewable energy, and an increasingly important market for Anaergia,” Andrew Benedek, Anaergia’s Chairman and CEO, said in a statement.
“Furthermore, this project is especially notable because it marks Anaergia’s first sale of a system that will produce renewable LNG at a time when there is fast growing demand across Europe for this vital commodity. We expect to see follow-up demand for this integrated solution in Italy as well as in a range of other European countries,” Benedek added.
