CO2 Battery developer Energy Dome wins EUR 17.5m in EC funding

Italian long-duration energy storage company Energy Dome SpA, developer of the CO2 Battery, has won EUR 17.5 million (USD 18.6m) in funding from the European Commission’s (EC) latest 2022 EIC Accelerator cut-off.

Energy Dome, which will receive the investment from the EIC Fund, has been selected to get the highest amount possible under the programme.

“This strategic support by the European Commission will enable Energy Dome to accelerate the scale up of our business and the deployment of CO2 Batteries across global markets,” said Claudio Spadacini, Founder and CEO of Energy Dome.

The company was competing with more than 1,000 start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for up to EUR 470 million of funding in a combination of grants and investments. In all, the EC has selected 78 innovative companies, including a couple of other clean energy sector players such as the Danish developer of flying drones for wind blade repairs Reblade ApS and Italian biomethane firm Alvus Srl.
