Day 2 of bidding in the offshore wind lease auction for acreage in the New York Bight ended with bids totalling USD 3.35 billion (EUR 2.99bn) in Round 46.
The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) took a recess at 0600 PM EST and plans to resume the competitive bidding process at 0900 AM EST on Friday.
On offer are six lease areas off the coasts of New York and New Jersey that could accommodate between 5.6 GW and 7 GW of offshore wind capacity.
The first day of bidding ended after the 21st round.
