Denmark’s Everfuel A/S (FRA:0HR) has inked a long-term deal for the supply of green hydrogen to refinery operator Crossbridge Energy A/S from a portion of the 300-MW second phase of the HySynergy Power-to-X (PtX) facility under development in Fredericia.
Everfuel is currently building a 20-MW electrolyser as part of the first phase of HySynergy and plans to add a further 300 MW in a second phase, which is to be developed in three 100-MW stages.
The newly-signed agreement stipulates the commercial terms for hydrogen supply from Stage A of Phase II. The particular section will have the capacity to produce up to 40 tonnes of green hydrogen per day. This output will be used for more sustainable fuel production at the adjacent Crossbridge Energy refinery, and as fuel for mobility and industry, according to the announcement.
“Initially, we will replace hydrogen based on fossil fuels with green hydrogen at our refinery, but we are also starting the next step of the Danish PtX journey,” stated Finn Schousboe, the CEO of Crossbridge Energy.
Everfuel expects to register the production of the first hydrogen from HySynergy Phase I in late 2022. It is awaiting IPCEI funding from the EU for Stage A of Phase II. The entire project is seen to be completed in 2025.
