UPDATE - LEAG gets municipal approval for 200 MWp solar project in Brandenburg

German energy company Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG (LEAG) and project developer EP New Energies GmbH (EPNE) have received municipal approval to build a 200-MWp solar park in the state of Brandenburg.

The approval was granted by the municipal council in the Dissen-Striesow municipality where the solar farm will be located, LEAG said on Friday.

Construction works on the Dissen solar park are scheduled to begin at the end of 2024 with commissioning planned for 2025. Located on an area of about 200 hectares (494.2 acres), the facility is expected to feed about 200,000 MWh of green electricity into the grid per year. The park will be part of the virtual power plant network in which LEAG's subsidiary Energy Cubes GmbH is in charge of the operational management and electricity marketing for various green power systems as well as storage and electrolysers.

The plant will be built on an area managed by organic farm Aueroxenreservat Spreeaue GmbH, which will partner with LEAG and EPNE on project development and later on the management of the area. Under the plan, the solar modules of the Dissen project will be built in rows with a space of five metres between module plates in order to ensure species protection and enable the cultivation of the land between the modules.
