Statkraft strikes PPA for 2nd half of 100-MWp solar park in Germany

Norwegian energy company Statkraft AS will supply Germany-based Naturstrom AG with electricity coming from a 50-MWp portion of its Schornhof solar park project in Germany.

The state-owned energy group said on Tuesday it has signed an 11-year power purchase agreement (PPA) that will see it provide around 600 GWh of solar electricity to energy supply firm Naturstrom. Power supplies will run from this autumn until December 2031.

Statkraft will source the electricity from its 100-MWp Schornhof photovoltaic (PV) farm in the municipality of Berg im Gau, in Bavaria's Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district. The other portion of the plant’s output was contracted by Anumar GmbH in July, also under an 11-year off-take deal.

Dusseldorf-based Naturstrom will offer the electricity to its residential customers, with the contract providing it with “complete price flexibility” and the opportunity to integrate solar power volumes into its procurement strategy.

The Schornhof project will operate through PPAs and subsidies from the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) scheme. It will require an investment of around EUR 60 million (USD 70.9m), Statkraft said.
