RWE picks Thorsminde port as O&M base for Thor offshore wind project

RWE AG (ETR:RWE) said today it has selected the port of Thorsminde as an operation and maintenance (O&M) base for its 1-GW Thor wind project off the Danish west coast.

A letter of intent (LoI) has been signed between the German energy group and the port.

The port offers the shortest sea route to the offshore wind park which will be located about 22 km (13.67 mi) off the coast. The service base will be established by the spring of next year to serve for work related to the construction of the wind park and will be fully operational in 2026, providing 60 permanent jobs.

Thor, to be Denmark's largest offshore wind farm, is expected to be fully operational by 2027. The facility will generate clean power enough to supply over one million Danish households.

An agreement with Danish grid operator Energinet on the grid connection of the wind project was signed earlier in April.
