LS Power selected to build wind power transmission lines in New England

Energy infrastructure company LS Power said on Wednesday that a subsidiary in Maine has been selected to build a new transmission solution that will deliver wind power from Aroostook County in Maine into the existing New England grid.

Specifically, LS Power Grid Maine LLC will build more than 100 miles of new 345-kV transmission lines along with multiple substations at locations that are yet to be determined through an open and transparent siting process.

The Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has picked the particular proposal in a competitive process in accordance with The Northern Maine Renewable Energy Development Program. The commission has determined that it is the most cost-effective option and best meets the established parameters and criteria for consideration.

According to Paul Thessen, president of LS Power, the infrastructure that will be deployed by the company will improve the reliability and resilience of the electric grid.
