Bosnia's Serb Republic to award 77 mln euro wind farm concession - report

Bosnia's Serb Republic government has launched a procedure for awarding a concession contract for construction of 50 MW wind farm - a project worth an estimated 150 million marka ($84.3 million/76.7 million euro), local media reported.

The government's decision came after East Sarajevo-based SDL Energy Company expressed interest in the concession, news portal Capital.ba reported on Wednesday.

The wind farm is planned to be built in Nevesinje, on the Trusina mountain in southeastern Bosnia. It is expected to produce 160 GWh of electricity per year.

In October 2012, the Serb Republic government awarded local company Eol Prvi a 30-year concession to build the Trusina wind farm with installed capacity of 51 MW and 17 wind turbines, Capital.ba said. However, the contract was terminated, as Eol Prvi failed to start construction works on the project several years after being awarded the concession.

SDL Energy Company has been in the wind energy business for more than 15 years in Europe and elsewhere, according to data by the company.

Nevesinje is a town in Bosnia's Serb Republic, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
