Conergy to present solar power storage system at Intersolar

(ADPnews) - May 31, 2011 - German solar technology company Conergy (ETR:CGY) said today it will unveil its new solar power storage solution at the Intersolar trade fair in Munich from June 8 to June 10.

The company said its system has a storage capacity of 13.2 kWh and is designed for households of four people. It has the size of a refrigerator and weighs 220 kg (485 pounds).

The storage solution features an integrated string inverter and an energy management system based on lithium-ion technology. It will enable owners of solar power installations to continue using solar electricity after the sun has gone down. When no storage system is in place, the generated solar energy must either be consumed immediately or fed into the grid.

According to Conergy, installing the storage system will allow households to satisfy up to 80% of their annual electricity needs with solar power. A typical household should be able to use the system for 20 years.
