CK, Tommy Hilfiger's Dutch warehouse fitted with 18 MWp of rooftop solar

PVH Corp (NYSE:PVH), owner of the Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger fashion brands, has completed the installation of a 18-MWp solar rooftop system at its warehouse and logistics centre in Venlo, the Netherlands.

The US clothing company on Tuesday said it believes that its sprawling array can claim the title of being the world's most powerful operating solar rooftop system installed on one singular structure.

The system consists of over 48,000 solar modules that produce power to cover the centre's electricity needs, while also supplying 100% of the power consumed by PVH Europe's warehouses, offices and stores in the Netherlands via the public grid.

The 100,000-sq-m (1.07m sq ft) centre, which distributes Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger products daily, is owned by Belgian logistics real estate firm Heylen Warehouses together with AG Real Estate. Dutch solar developer IZEN acted as technical installation partner for the rooftop project.

The rooftop installation is part of PVH's efforts to source 100% of the power required by its offices, warehouses and stores from renewables and cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from its supply chain by 30% by 2030.
