Endesa to supply Catalan Railways with 100% renewable power

January 4 (Renewables Now) – Endesa (BME:ELE) will this year supply the Catalan Government Railways (FGC) with electricity from 100% renewable sources, local media have reported.

Endesa will sell high and low voltage electricity to supply the railways systems’ around 300 kilometres of metropolitan lines and mountain stations.

The electricity will be supplied from solar, wind and hydropower sources.

The contract is worth an estimated EUR 9.9 million (USD 11.3m), plus regulated tariff, the electricity tax and the value-added tax.

In December 2018, the FGC announced a strategy to tackle climate change covering the 2019-2021 period. As of 2019, the FGC will demand only energy from 100% renewable sources from its tender participants.
