EDPR bags 50 MW of solar in Hungarian renewables auction

Madrid-based renewables developer EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) has secured a 15-year contract-for-difference (CfD) for a 50-MW solar project in Hungary in the country’s latest renewables auction.

With this award, EDPR is taking its first step in the Hungarian market, it said on Friday, adding that its expects the solar farm to start commercial operation in 2022. No other details were released.

EDPR was one of 36 winners in Hungary’s second renewables tender, which was launched in July 2020. On Thursday, the auction organiser, the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Authority (MEKH), said that only solar power projects won contracts, with the round concluding with a combined capacity of 210 MW.
