There has been a surge in power purchase agreement (PPA) announcements in September, including some huge deals like Google's purchase of 1.6 GW of renewable power, and AT&T's 960 MW of wind and solar contracts. Baltimore-based energy supplier Constellation, part of Exelon Corp (NYSE:EXC), has found three off-takers for a 175-MW solar farm in Virginia. Johns Hopkins University, herb and spice supplier McCormick & Company (NYSE:MKC), and discount retailer TJX Companies Inc (NYSE:TJX) will be buying the power and renewable energy certificates (RECs) from the Skipjack Solar Center for 15 years. US biofuels company Gevo Inc (NASDAQ:GEVO) will use electricity from wind turbines at its Agri-Energy plant in Luverne, Minnesota, as part of a plan to decarbonise its production. The company has agreed to buy the output from 5 MW of wind capacity at a project owned by Juhl Clean Energy Assets (JCEA), an affiliate of renewables firm Juhl Energy (OTCMKTS:JUHL). Read more..

Mexican cement producer Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua SAB de CV (BMV:GCC) will supply its Odessa, Texas, cement factory entirely with electricity from renewable energy sources. 8minute Solar Energy LLC will build a 400-MW solar park with battery storage in California which will offer the “lowest combined solar and storage prices on record.” The project will be implemented under a partnership with municipal utility Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), which will buy the solar park’s output at a price lower than USD 0.02 (EUR 0.018) per kWh. Italian company Falck Renewables SpA (BIT:FKR) has signed a PPA for the sale of 75% of the electricity generated by a 10-MW under-construction wind park. Spanish renewable power retailer Holaluz will buy the output of the Carrecastro wind farm, located in Tordesillas and Velilla municipalities, Castilla y Leon. Read more..
-- Deutsche Bahn inks 25-MW offshore wind PPA in Germany
German railway company Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) will be purchasing about 8% of the total production of the 295-MW Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm as from 2024. DB Energie GmbH has entered into a five-year PPA for a 25-MW portion of the wind farm, or four out of 48 turbines. Read more..
