Maersk Supply Service, Stiesdal join forces to serve floating wind developers

Maersk Supply Service and fellow Danish firm Stiesdal A/S have teamed up to offer integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services for foundations and moorings in the floating wind industry.

Stiesdal Offshore is developer of the Tetra floating offshore wind foundation, which is based on factory-made modules assembled in port. The first Tetra floater was installed off the coast of Norway last year. Maersk Supply Service has a longstanding experience in towing and mooring provision.

The companies say that their integrated approach will streamline the value chain, helping to fast-track installations and reduce the levelised costs of floating wind.

Under the strategic partnership, Maersk Supply Service will act as lead contractor, while Stiesdal Offshore will be a subcontractor.

“With this partnership, we want to offer our customers a combined EPCI solution for floating wind foundation design, fabrication, assembly and installation,” explained Maersk Supply Service chief executive Steen S Karstensen.

“We believe this will simplify the value chain in the growing floating wind sector, which is still in the early stages, but which will also by necessity see rapid expansion and growth in the coming decade,” added Karstensen.
