Swedish thin-film solar technology specialist Midsummer AB (STO:MIDS) said that it has signed a five-year agreement to sell up to 6.5 MW of its CIGS modules per year to Italian roofing company PugliAsfalti.
PugliAsfalti agreed to pay for the order EUR 11.7 million (USD 12.9m) annually for the duration of the contract, and offer Midsummer’s solar panels to its existing and new customers mainly in southern Italy, the Swedish manufacturer said.
The agreement will also see the Italian company sell 30,000 square metres of its thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) single-ply roofing membranes per year to Midsummer, which is set to pay EUR 100 per square metre.
These quantities are not binding for either party, and the prices may vary under certain conditions, Midsummer said
PugliAsfalti specialises in mid-size roof installations, and also installs photovoltaic (PV) systems that are architecturally integrated into the roofs. It has become the third Italian roofing company in the space of few months to sign a CIGS modules-for-roofing materials agreement with Midsummer.
Midsummer, which is preparing to open a CIGS solar cells factory in Bari, Italy, previously signed similar agreements with metal roof manufacturers Medacciai and Unimetal.
