US energy storage company Fluence Energy Inc (NASDAQ:FLNC) this week said it has agreed to acquire Zurich-based Nispera AG, which provides artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning-enabled software-as-a-service (SaaS) for the renewable energy sector.
Nispera has an AI-driven utility-scale asset performance management platform with 8 GW of assets under management across 450 wind and solar projects around the world.
Fluence, a joint business of US power generation group AES Corp (NYSE:AES) and German industrial conglomerate Siemens AG (ETR:SIE), said the acquisition expands its digital footprint, providing it with a combined digital portfolio of 15 GW contracted or under management.
Nispera adds five applications to Fluence IQ’s digital application offerings, including Nispera’s core SaaS product, a predictive maintenance app, an operations and maintenance app, a portfolio management app, as well as an application providing enhanced power generation forecasting services aimed at energy traders, large asset managers, grid operators and financial institutions.
Fluence president and chief executive Manuel Perez Dubuc said the acquisition will help the company expand its portfolio of digital products and services and also “represents a powerful cross-selling opportunity to offer energy storage products to owners of existing renewable energy assets and portfolios.”
According to the announcement, Nispera’s software currently collects and analyses data from wind, solar and hydro assets and other external sources in over 25 countries.
A price tag for the deal was not provided.
