Total of 10 companies and consortia have been pre-qualified to take part in a tender for up to 100 MW of solar projects in Zambia.
The bidders were shortlisted following a Request for Qualification (RfQ) issued in April by the Zambian Energy Ministry under the country’s renewable energy programme. They will be now invited to submit technical and financial bids in a Request for Proposal (RfP), the next round of the selection.
The names of the selected bidders, as published on the website of GET FiT Zambia, are below:
Building Energy SpA
EDF Energies Nouvelles
Enel Green Power SpA
Engie Afrique SA
Globeleq African Holdings Ltd & Aurora Power Solutions
InnoVent SAS & Copperbelt Energy Corp Plc
Mulilo Group Holdings Proprietary Ltd
Phanes Group
Scatec Solar ASA
SolarReserve Development Co
A total of 41 projects from 24 solar power developers and investors responded to the RfQ, led by Multiconsult ASA (FRA:3MC). The Norwegian consultancy was selected last month as implementation consultant for the GET FiT programme in Zambia.
Proposals in the RfP can have capacities of up to 20 MW. Each applicant will have the right to participate with up to two projects.
Under the GET FIT Zambia initiative, launched in 2017, the African republic aims to add 200 MW of small-scale renewables in three years. The 100-MW tender will lead to the implementation of at least five projects.
