Bristol-based company Perceptual Robotics Ltd has received a major contract to process future inspection blade data from across Enel Green Power’s whole fleet of wind turbines.
Perceptual Robotics has developed the Dhalion Inspection System, which analyses wind turbine inspection data, identifying future potential faults before they damage the machine.
“Our solution is driven by meticulous data and the science of materials. This allows us to provide much more granular information about any defects, and to make sure we detect within hours possible issues before they become a problem as AI [artificial intelligence] can detect thousands of data in parallel, reducing wind turbine downtime, and significantly affecting the repairs needed in the future,” said CEO Kostas Karachalios.
The two companies previously worked together when Perceptual Robotics conducted a successful full case study on the performance and business impact of using AI on analysing wind turbine blade data. The particular study revealed that AI already exceeds the capabilities of current blade experts, Perceptual Robotics said.
