US solar developer 8minute Solar Energy today said it has rebranded to Avantus to reflect its increased focus on advanced technologies.
The company will continue to develop its pipeline of over 70 utility-scale projects. At the same time, it is using proprietary technologies and design optimisation tools to offer smart power plants with integrated storage capable of providing flexible, predictable output to the grid.
“Energy systems must evolve to match the complex, data-driven world we live in,” said Avantus chief technology officer Kip Larson, who previously worked at Amazon, Amazon Web Services and Convoy. “That’s why Avantus has created a new ecosystem of renewable energy generation and storage that outperform conventional and simple designs,” he added.
Larson explained that the company employs digital tools like large-scale simulations and predictive analytics to create highly specific and optimised system architecture, power plant designs and machine learning-powered operational systems.
In early 2022, 8minute closed USD 400 million (EUR 393m) in financing from institutional investor EIG to pursue growth, including advancing solar plant design.
