Mercedes Benz Energy GmbH has endorsed the Evolve home energy storage system by Eguana Technologies Inc (CVE:EGT) and will recommend it to its distributors.
Eguana said on Wednesday it will delay the initial roll-out of the fully automated storage solution, previously planned to start in June. It is now expected to take place in the firm’s fourth fiscal quarter, which ends on September 30.
Evolve will use Eguana’s power controls and LG Chem’s lithium ion batteries.
Mercedes Benz, part of German carmaker Daimler AG (ETR:DAI), earlier this year decided to stop producing residential battery products globally. According to a Greentech Media report in April, Daimler remains committed to its electric vehicle (EV) programme and its staff would be ready to advise customers interested in home batteries on where to find such.
Mercedes Benz Energy CEO Gordon Gassmann said the Evolve product has passed six months of “intense testing to ensure reliability and functionality” and the company is happy to transfer its distributor relationships directly to Eguana.
Mercedes has opened additional markets for Evolve and other product lines. “MBE sales worked with us to transition additional distributors in Australia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. We are very excited to see our products move into this rapidly expanding distribution network,” said Justin Holland, Eguana CEO.
